At Collins Cardiology, we perform the non-invasive echocardiogram procedure to create a detailed image of your heart and its valves, ventricles, atria, and associated vasculature. This is an important tool for monitoring your health for the presence and progression of heart disease. An echocardiogram should take approximately 20 minutes, and it doesn't cause any discomfort to the patient.
What Is Echocardiography?
Echocardiography is a cardiology test used to detect multiple things. An “echo” (echocardiogram) is a non-invasive, painless test using sound waves. This process creates accurate, live images of the heart that give the cardiologist information about its size, shape, and how well its valves and chambers work. Similar to the process of viewing an unborn child still in the womb, an echocardiogram uses sound waves produced by a transducer to painlessly assemble an image of the beating heart.
